Campver van cruising!

We might have done something sneaky. And in a way, this might be our apology to the rest of the group.

After our horrible first night, Sean and Cara managed to get a relocation camper van to take down to Adelaide (basically for people that have hired it one way, the company pays someone else to bring it back for them!) so we might have possibly hopped into it with Steve and Renée and travelled down to Alice springs with them in the air con and space. As we don't have a truck anymore, the company hired a minibus that is so minute that I can't sit straight and there is no air con. There is a fan but it doesn't really cut it when 25 or so people are crammed in without a spare seat and no room for hand luggage! So we opted to jump in the 6 berth camper and have our own Australian overland experience!

It was very exciting, we drove down a single straight road the whole way to Alice springs spotting wallabies and kangaroos and stopping off at places like the northern territories oldest pub, the central point of Australia and the telegraph station where a single wire connected that point and London!! Which we thought was very impressive! We also stopped at Katherine gorge and, fighting flies and midday sun, we walked to the top of the gorge for a look! It was a stunning view!

We got into many ridiculous situations and escapades including fending off drunk Aborigine's and writing our names one the white line of the road at the central point in oz where it is over 1500 kms to any big town! We also climbed the devils marbles and Alex ripped his shorts climbing down from them so ended up flashing a bit too much bum!

But we need to keep going to reach Alice springs for a special treat and what promises to be one of the highlights of the trip!
