We're all going on a summer holiday...

We got the night bus from Hoi An to Nha Trang. This was quite an experience as they have definitely not been built for Alex sized people, but Petit Vietnamese. The bus had 3 rows of seats over 2 stories. You pop into you allocated reclining chair but your feet have to squeeze into a small box. Definitely not for big feet! Anyway we got some sleep between blasts of cold air con, the fairly constant hooting of the bus' horn and emergency stops for wayward mopeds.

We arrived into Nha Trang early the following morning. Nha Trang is a beach resort on the southern coast of Vietnam and now a big tourist destination, especially for Russians! Our hotel was a stones throw from the beach, which was perfect for a lazy day in the sun. After we'd had a quick wander through the town, lying on the beach in the sun was just what the doctor had ordered after a night of limited sleep. This now actually felt like we were on holiday, as weird as that sounds as we have been away for 4 months already!

Despite being pestered by street sellers we got some sleep and thought the sea looked very appealing! Wrong! The surge was really strong and basically kept flooring us, Gill anyway, and removing our (her) swimwear under the waves. A walk along the beach was decided to be the better option.

We had the opportunity to do a couple of dives while we were there. We were taken on a 45 minute boat ride to an island where the marine life was protected. As its rainy season the visibility wasn't amazing (still 10m at a depth of 18m) but it was lovely diving in warm water again and what we saw was amazing. The coral was stunning and marine life we saw fish we'd never seen before, some trumpet, scorpion and lion fish. It was another reminder of what a wonderful world God has created.

It was a very relaxing couple of days and more delicious seafood was consumed and we had an awesome ice cream parlour beside the hotel. It would have been rude not to.

On to Mui Me.
