A couple of posts ago, remember how the truck was brilliant and everything? What a load of tripe.
From Cappadocia, we have had 3 bush camps and 4 drive days. And a further 2 break downs! Essentially, to cut a long story short, the suspension broke, was fixed and then broke again the following day. But it did get fixed again, with the help of an angle grinder on the side of the road.
But more interesting than that, we camped at a place called Nemrut Dagi. On top of a 2,000 metre mountain, a few thousand years ago a king wasn't impressed with the Egyptian pyramids. Apparently they weren't good enough so he had all these stone heads (there used to be bodies and there still are of some) built on top of the tallest mountain around just to show off. It worked.
After a half hour hike after we arrived, we are just in time to watch the sunsetting from the top. We were so impressed that we felt compelled enough top get up and see the sunrise. Although this may sound utterly ridiculous, we were having breakfast at 6am before a drive day anyway so what difference did it make being up at 4...?
Turns out, a lot. But that doesn't matter as the views were stunning and we could sleep on the newly fixed truck (although the suspension was fixed, it is still massively bouncy!).
We stumbled upon a place called Batman. There was a Batman Park, a Batman University and a Batman meat market. Turns out though that the locals don't find their association with Hollywood funny at all. So we made a hasty retreat and continued on towards the Iranian boarder!
P.S. the truck IS still brilliant really!
